Halloween weekend

Hello ladies

Did you all have a good Halloween? How did you celebrate?
I didn’t go out Saturday night, but I helped my sister and her friend Emma prepare for their Halloween night out by doing their makeup. Firstly I used white powder on Jens face, I then added some grey/black eye shadow to her lids and blended, then I gave her some nice bags under her eyes, by adding a soft brown eye shadow. She added her freaky eye contacts and we covered her in fake blood. One farmer zombie complete.
For Emma I did some nice yellow and purple eye shadow to go with her purple contacts and once again we covered her in fake blood. She added her face mask.  One Super bad hero complete.

Jen and Em

On Sunday I went to Alton Towers scare fest with Ell and some friends. Silly me set my phone back one hour not realising it would do it automatically- So instead of one hour extra in bed we got two. Ended up with my friend ringing me and Ell up asking where we were! Bad times! Just ended up being ½ hour behind schedule.
I wore my sisters ASOS rain coat. I was prepared for the bad weather however, it did not show and it was bright and sunny all day! Ohh well. I also wore my white converses, black jeans, strappy top and a jumper; I was very warm and comfy all day. So here are a few photos of us there.

We won this bear in a claw machine and no one wanted to carry it, so my hood did. Cool kid

Before carnival of screams

Excuse Ell and Steve not looking at the camera in the photo of the four of us.

We went on Thirteen, Nemesis, Air, Tower of Terrors and Rita.
We paid for the extra £12 ticket to go in the Boiler House and Carnival of Scream mazes at 6:30-7. I have to say they were not worth the money, especially after going on the Tower of Terrors maze (which was included in the park ticket) which was jumpy, left me on edge and not knowing what to expect, and it also lasted a lot longer. The Boiler House and Carnival of Screams I found left nothing to the imagination. They were exactly the same as Tower of Terrors except with different scenery so I knew what to expect. With paying £12 extra I wanted to come out feeling spooked but they were nothing like I thought they would be.
This morning I and my sister carved our pumpkins. I have to say it won’t become my full time job, as I am terrible at doing it. Jens was very good though.
Jens' on the left (the good one) mine on the right (the rubbish one)

One Jen did earlier on in the week

Hope you all enjoyed Halloween as much as I did.
Also did anyone watch Hollyoaks?? I missed tonight's 'first look' episode so I'm excited about seeing it tomorrow.

Golden Eyeshadow Look.

Hello ladies

I went out a few weeks ago and decided I really wanted golden eye make-up.
After watching Tanya Burrs video using the Urban Decay naked pallet here I decided that this was the look I wanted to go for. I really liked the shape she did and the colours she used on her eyes. After trying this out on myself I decided that the colours she used just didn’t suit me, so I tried out the same technique using different eye shadow colours. So here is what I ended up with:

I used:
Estee Lauder double wear light foundation.
Mac paint pot ‘Bare study’ as a base
Urban Decay naked pallet ‘Half baked’ on inner corners of eye
Mac eye shadow ‘Wood-winked’ blended through centre of the eye
Urban Decay naked pallet ‘Smog’ on outer corners through eye
Clinique gel eyeliner lightly flicked out outer corners of eye
Nars ‘deep throat’ blush on cheeks
Mac creamsheen ‘Creme d’nude’ lipstick- Love this.

Let me know what you think?
When I went on my night out I also added some false eyelashes to give a more winged out effect. View photo here.

OPI Rainbow Connection♥

Hello ladies,

OPI have launched twelve limited-edition Nail Lacquers for Autumn/Winter 2011, the collection is inspired by the film ‘The Muppets’ and its lively and colourful characters.

So as soon as I saw images of these colours in a monthly Scratch magazine I had to get my hands on the polish ‘Rainbow connection’- The other colours in the collection are gorgeous but I just don’t think I would wear them enough. The ‘Rainbow Connection’ polish is very similar to Deborah Lippmann's ‘Happy Birthday’ which I have always wanted but after seeing the OPI one and already owning a few OPI polishes I thought I would stick to a brand I know and love. The Deborah Lippmanns polishes are gorgeous and I do fancy the ‘Across the Universe’ one, so I may invest in one in the future.

Here are some pictures of Rainbow Connection- This is after 3 coats. I am someone who loves a good glitter coverage so 3 coats was perfect for me. Although you could wear 1 or 2 coats over a coloured nail polish.

OPI rainbow connection

Oooo so excited. My OPI Muppets ‘rainbow connection’ polish came through today. As I have ‘black pool’ shellac and glitter on my nails at the moment I have no pictures with it on my nails. But as soon as I have socked off my shellac in a few days and painted on my rainbow connection I’ll get some photos up for you all. Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Yet Another Haul

Cheap Fridays -Wardrobe Haul

1) Woolly Jumper- Primark: £12 I love this jumper, it’s easy to wear, light and comfortable (no horrible itchiness that some woolly jumpers can give) and the colour is bang on with autumn trend.
2) Low black heals- Primark: £10 BARGIN. I have been looking for some reasonably priced low black heals for a while now and I walked into Primark and there they were just staring at me. They’re comfortable and so far no blisters. I don’t think they look like Primark shoes at all J

Make-up, make-up and more make-up.

1) Illusion D’Ombre- Chanel: £22.50 Colour 82 Emerveille. Love this product (cream eye shadow) it lasts all day and it’s a beautiful colour. I really wanted the black one with the silver specks but just knew I wouldn’t wear it enough to get my money’s worth (maybe I’ll save up and get it in the future) I saw this on Vivianna’s blog at  viviannadoesmakeup and just had to treat myself and buy it.
2) Lip liners- Rimmel: £3.99 Colour 024 Red Diva and No7: £7.50 Colour 05 Plum. I bought my No7 one using my Boots £5 off No7 voucher so only cost me £2.50. I saw these on the beautiful Billie’s blog at billiehoughton . The two colours looked so gorgeous added together, I thought I’d treat myself (and they were only cheapies). :)
3) Lip Balm- Burt’s Bee’s Beeswax lip balm: £3.56 now after all the raving I read about Burt’s Bee’s lip balm over the internet I wanted to try it myself. The one I chose has a nice peppermint flavour and yes it does make my lips more hydrated but I have to admit I wasn’t blown away, it really doesn’t work well with other lip products so I can only wear it when I have bare lips. I will keep on trying more Burt’s Bee’s products in the future to see if I like them more.

How to: Hair Bun

Now throughout the day I always have people asking me how I get my hair into such a perfect bun. So I decided to do a blog post on how it’s done, just in case any of you out there don't know (and also to what the ‘not so secret weapon’ is).

Secret weapon
Firstly go out and buy a Hair Doughnut ring (this is the ‘not so secret weapon’). I purchased mine at Boots here for £4.60, but you can get them for £1 at Primark. Remember to choose the right colour for your hair- Blonde, brown or Black. Red heads go for brown.
Then follow these simple steps to get your perfect hair bun.
1) Put your hair into a ponytail

2) Pull your pony tail through the centre of the doughnut

3) Back comb your hair if your hair is thin or you want a less neat effect. For work or interviews etc leave the hair as it is for a more finished look

4) Pull the hair over the bun to completely cover it and wrap hair around.

5) Pin in to place with hair grips, trying to keep them all hidden.

6) Finally spray to hold in place. For a more ruffled look gently pull bits out.

Tadahhh your easy peasy hair bun.

This process will not work on shorter hair as it won’t pull through or cover the doughnut.
Hope you all have fun with it and let me know how you got on.

Halloween nails

As we all know Halloween is coming up and people are always looking for new ideas/inspiration for funky nails, so with some spare time on my hands I thought I’d have a play around. The look I chose to recreate is the ‘I’ve scratched someone to death’ nails, nice huh!!!!

How to:
Add a clear base coat to your nails
Choose your bloody red colour (I have gone for a clotted blood colour)
Take a thin nail art brush and roughly paint the tip of the nail, then using the same brush use light flicking strokes going towards the cuticle. Remember ladies this does not need to be neat as they are Halloween nails.
After doing this to both hands, seal the nails with a clear top coat.

Then vuala your bloody nails are complete. I think best for zombies, killer barbie/cheerleader and vampires.
Let me know what you think....

Bourjois Smile Enhancing Gloss

So I was out shopping on Saturday morning and I bumped into a friend that works is Boots. She had the most gorgeous shade of lip gloss on and straight away asked her what it was. She directed me straight to the Bourjois smile enhancing gloss colour 05 framboise and of course I purchased it. The gloss cost me £6.99 and the normal price of it is £8.99, so if you are after it then Id purchase it from boots now whilst its on offer :)

Now this gloss comes in two parts; the first part is a Tooth-brightening effect gel that you apply directly on to your teeth, (which has a nice minty taste) and the second part is the colour gloss of your choice (most colours are pinks or nudes) which claims to have white focus pigments to also help enhance the whiteness of your teeth. The gloss doesn’t have a tacky feeling to it so you don’t find your lips sticking together.

Result: An instant tooth brightening effect.

Now the gel is not a formula which you would use to actually whiten your teeth such as whitening toothpastes or professional dental whitening, it is just for use alongside the lip gloss as they complement each other.

Here are some before and after photos I took. I do not use any whitening tooth pastes at the moment, just normal Colgate and I have never had my teeth professionally whitened.

What do you think?
Now I don’t think it makes my teeth look any whiter but I do think it enhances them. So overall I am very pleased with it.

Sienna X Spray Tan.

Hello ladies,

So I went out this weekend and had my Sienna x spray tan. Luckily I have my own tent and machine that I use in my salon so I can have one whenever (so thanks to my sister for giving me my late night tan :D) .

Sienna x is a popular tan that has been mentioned in numerous fashion and beauty magazines and used by celebrities such as Michelle Keegan, Kara Tointon and Jorgie Porter. It has also won the Guild Award Of Excellence 2011 (not bad eh?). Sienna x tan solution doesn’t contain any parabens.

Do’s and Don’ts of having a spray tan
Do exfoliate before hand
Don’t apply any body moisturisers, lotions or butters. (This acts as a barrier on your skin and stops the tan from developing.)
Do not to apply deodorant the same day as your tan as this will turn your arm pits green (now this can wash off but we don’t want to risk a green armpit for a week and a half) ‘Sure Roll-On’ deodorant is the only one I have come across that doesn’t leave a nice green pit, So if your someone who cannot go a day without deodorant then try this. Stay away from ‘Dove’ ones.
Bring loose dark clothing for after your tan. No jeans, no socks and no knee high boots ladies.
Take a strapless bra or bikini with you. Unless you’re happy not to wear one.
Shave at least 12 hours before your tan and wax 24 hours before.
Leave your tan on 8 hours before washing it off and its best left overnight.
When washing off use plenty of shower gel but no scrunches, sponges or brushes.

Taaaadahhhhh your tan is complete. Use plenty of moisturisers to prolong your tan and keep it even and then when you finally want to remove your tan exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate- or you can just leave it fade like I do :)

I have to admit this tan does smell like biscuits but I don’t know many spray tans that don’t smell.

Here are some photos of my tan, the colour I had was 8% which is the lightest. I would look ridiculous with a darker shade due to my bright blonde hair.
Straight after tan, Night out and the colour next to my beige work uniform

Also ladies make sure you have a foundation to match your tan colour. No one wants a white face brown neck combo. I use Fresh minerals loose powder in the colour second skin.
Please let me know what you think :)

Origins Ginzing Review

Hello ladies
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I spent mine mainly eating and going against my ‘small portions’ diet.
Anyway onto the post...
As it says in the title of my post today is about Origins ‘Ginzing’ eye cream.
Product details (Taken from the Origins website)
Refreshing eye cream to brighten and depuff

Late night? Long flight? Look tired all the time? Prepare to become one of the perky people!
Nature's clinically-proven morning-after eye cream helps to reduce the look of dark circles. Unsightly bags and puffiness seem less visible. And Origins proprietary complex of Caffeine from Coffee bean, Panax Ginseng, Magnolia Extract and natural optic brighteners rapidly wakes up, refreshes and restores radiance to tired eyes.
Opthalmologist tested. Good for all skin types and all ages.
·         Best for brightening
·         Best for all skin types

Well I have to say I completely agree with the Origins description. I find this cream so hydrating that it has also slightly reduced the appearance of my tired lines from under my eyes. Now this is not an anti aging cream, I’m only 20 so I do not have actual fine lines or wrinkles I just have tired lines, so this cream will not reduce your fine lines or wrinkles it will just hydrate. It also has a slight pearly finish to the cream so instantly brightens the area. I have had this eye cream now for about 3 months and I can see visible results from when I started using the cream. This cream is £21, but I was lucky enough to buy it for £12.50 in a Boots sale, it also came with a small make-up bag, a small lip gloss and small mascara (lucky meee). Anyway I’m going to keep this post short and sweet, if you have used this eye cream please let me know how you’re getting along with it.
